Every year about this time I’m faced with he same dilemma: Which restaurant should I take my sweetheart to on Valentine’s Day? One of our favourites? A new highly touted room, perhaps? One with a celebrity chef? So many choices! However, this year, thanks to OpenTable, I have 100 to choose from.
OpenTable, the world's leading provider of online restaurant reservations this week named the “100 Most Romantic Restaurants in Canada” for 2017 and a few of my favourites made the list. The 100 Most Romantic were gathered from the combined opinions of more than 480,000 restaurant reviews and 1,900 restaurants in Canada, which were submitted by verified OpenTable diners.
Valentine’s Day, of course, is the busiest for restaurants in Canada but according to OpenTable, 45 per cent of Canadian diners still wait until the week before Valentine’s Day to make their reservations.
Data collected by OpenTable also reveals that:
42 per cent of Valentine’s Day reservations made last year in Canada were booked using mobile devices, an 8 per cent increase from the previous year;
Italian cuisine proves to be the most popular when choosing a restaurant to dine at for Valentine’s Day, followed by Steakhouses, Canadian cuisine, Seafood and French.
