One my great joys of visiting Holland is a stop at the Keukenhof Gardens, that spectacular Garden of Eden that in spring is blanketed with a variety of colourful tulips. Spectacular is the word that truly describes the Keukenhof in spring.
This year, the Keukenhof tulip displays starts March 22 and runs until May 23.
However, Amsterdam also holds its own tulip festival from Easter weekend and throughout April and every street in Holland’s largest and most beautiful city will be decorated in the product of the bulb - from Noord to Zuidoost and Oost to Nieuw-West.
More than 80 locations throughout Amsterdam will offer tulip displays - even bike paths. The official start of the fourth edition of Tulp Festival Amsterdam takes place in the Nieuw-West quarter of the city, around the Sloterplas and at the new Van Eesteren Museum. An informative guidebook, complete with map, gives you all details on partners, locations and tulip varieties.
You can follow the news and real time updates on flowering times during the festival via http://www.tulpfestival.com; on Facebook: tulpfestivalamsterdam; and Instagram: @tulpfestival.
