NEW YORK - Things are going swimmingly, as the British would say, for designer Kasia Roginska these days. Her KARO swimwear designs are the talk of the suntan set and her innovative and playful designs that include lots of “bling” are being bought up by sun worshippers around the world.

The Polish-born Roginska’s collection of resort-style swimwear is loaded with jewellry — natural stones, pearls and crystals — and stand out on the beach. Colours are bright, bold and the suits are elegant and feminine. Each piece can be custom made to fit the owner to the smallest detail.

And “detail” is what sets KARO swimwear apart from others on the market. But detail is something that Roginska was taught as a child by her late father, Jozef, who showed her how to use a sewing machine at a very young age.

Her father encouraged her to continue her creativity by applying to fashion design school and shortly after her graduation, the whole family emigrated to Connecticut. For a few years, Kasia was disconnected from her trade but sporadically she would indulge in interior design projects, decorating, making window treatments, etc. In December 2011, at the age of 37, Kasia was asked to oversee a local fashion show and her creative juices began to flow again. KARO swimwear and success followed shortly after.

Her designs have been featured in several publications like Elle and Vanity Fair, just to name a few. And many celebrities have been seen in KARO swimwear.

Kasia’s design philosophy is simple — everything has to match form head to toe. She’s not afraid to use asymmetry and big chunky stones to highlight her designs.

She’s most happy while creating a piece and won’t stop until it’s done. Her passionate approach to design has transformed her into a whole new person and she credits her father for her success.

By creating and designing, she says, Kasia feels like she is making her father proud.
