SEATTLE - When I was expecting my first child, it seemed I couldn’t take a step without someone, be it friends, family, neighbours, co-workers, passersby, mailmen or observant vagabonds, informing me my life was about to change — forever!

NEW YORK - Things are going swimmingly, as the British would say, for designer Kasia Roginska these days. Her KARO swimwear designs are the talk of the suntan set and her innovative and playful designs that include lots of “bling” are being bought up by sun worshippers around the world.

TORONTO - Do you remember your last vacation? I’m sure it was amazing but it could have been much better had you not been worrying about the furry family members you left back home.

RIVERA NAYARIT, MEXICO - I’m having trouble catching my breath as I drag my body onto the white sand of Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) — a.k.a. Hidden Beach — one of the lovely Marieta Islands that lie just off this romantic Mexican resort town.

TORONTO - Airports are not our favourite places — even the ones that look like shopping malls. Having said that, there are some we don’t mind being stranded while waiting for a connecting or delayed flight. VANCOUVER - Fashion week. To the style enthusiast, these two words can stir as much excitement and emotion as an NHL playoff game does for hockey fans. And there are plenty held around the world each year to choose from. In fact, there’s more Fashion Weeks than weeks in the year — 134 and counting. You could actually travel the world 2.5 years and still not make every show.

BARCELONA - Outside my window, Europe is whizzing past. First Holland, then Belgium … France … Switzerland … Italy … Spain. Small towns, their church spires sticking up like pins on a map, pass by in the blink of the eye.

TORONTO - There's now almost as many apps as their are grains of sand on a beach. Okay, we exaggerate. But you get the point — there’s a lot of apps out there and there’ll be plenty more in the future. And the people who use the most apps are travellers and business people.

TORONTO - We were told that when we wore Google’s new “Glass” eyewear, we’d be looking at the future of travel. Well, it appears that claim was a bit shortsighted and the future of “Glass” technology itself now looks blurred.
